Tomorrow three of the kids are headed back to school. I am reminded of my mother-in-law singing, "It's the most wonderful time... of the year!" in her kitchen each year when her kids would go back. I never fully understood it until this year. We have enjoyed our summer... but boy are we all ready for our routine! In an effort to step it up in the mommy/wife/homemaker department... I set a few goals for myself.
I have found that my kids thrive on schedules. Especially Lincoln. He takes after me in so many ways. I found this awesome class schedule in the dollar spot at Target and it inspired me to make my own schedule for the kids. They are so excited to know what they are supposed to be doing. You should have seen their faces light up when I showed them. They even planned a schedule for
after school snacks.
I splurged and bought these amazing new
responsibility charts for each of them at Target. They love to put a magnet on each item as they accomplish it throughout the day. We have a new reward system as well. I'll blog about that another day.
Each of them have the same basic jobs, plus something extra that they are working on. Lincolns= no teasing, Gracie's= no whining, Graham's= listening ears, Jayne's= be nice to Peter (she loves him a little
too much sometimes.)
Hopefully this will last awhile and it won't lose it's magic after a few weeks. If it does... we'll re-evaluate and try something new!
