Sesame Street Live!
Ever since I took Graham to see Elmo when he was two... I've been dying to take all of the kids to see him. Lincoln and Grace might have been a little too old for it... but we still had a lot of fun. They came when Annalisa was visiting us so she was able to join in the fun.
You can't see Lincoln... but he's around the blue corner. Jayne insisted on standing right in front of Elmo. She loves him!
We got there plenty early and were able to get some wiggles out beforehand. Funny story... while we were waiting, Bert and Ernie came out to walk around. They weren't really stopping for pictures, just walking around. As soon as Graham saw them he took of running. Then he stopped and did a little excited pose and kept running after them. He followed them all the way into the theater and actually got stopped by one of the workers. Everyone waiting had a good laugh. He was just super excited!
Graham took this picture of the 'beautiful light'. Grace asked me if she could have one like it in her room someday.
Let the show begin. There are two good things about going to kids shows.... besides the sheer excitement on your kids faces. One: They let you take pictures. Two: There are a million other kids there, so your kids doesn't have to be on their best behavior because all of the other parents completely understand!
My favorite scene... Ernie on the Rubber Ducky ship. I have a dream of being on stage and performing without any sort of stage fright. I decided that if I ever was in a production... I'd want to do Children's Theater. Something about being up on stage dressed in full costume is so appealing. I could go all out and act like a complete spazz and nobody would know that it's me. I love the thought of it!
Jayne loved it the most. I don't think I've ever seen her hold so still for such a long amount of time.
Lincoln was done by intermission. He actually asked me if we could go home because he was so bored. He enjoyed about 30% of the show. Grace loves anything at the theater. She's a girl after my own heart.
This is what Lincoln did the second half of the show... he's way too old for Elmo.
The storyline was all about using your imagination. They kept asking us to close our eyes. Jayne took it very seriously.... it was so darling.
Graham made the whole experience very memorable. He had some serious ants in his pants and would not sit still! He stood up near the rail for most of the time and even made a bolt for the emergency exit instead of going downstairs to the bathroom. Between that and him yelling, "RIFF RAFF!" for no reason at all... it made for a very memorable time. Love that kid.... but man alive is he crazy sometimes!
Overall it was a very fun trip. I love seeing the joy on my kids faces when they experience things like this. I'm so grateful that we live where we do and can afford to take them to things like this.
Can't wait to see what Children's shows are coming next year!
