the tiger pledge.

The other day after school the kids were asked to come back and say the Tiger pledge with the Principal that night.  The school district is trying to pass a levy and there was a big meeting for the community.  My kids were thrilled that the principal wanted them to come!  Here they are practicing before they performed in front of a gym full of people.  Their principal is about as tall as I am.  He's really fun.
I have been really impressed with the kids school this year.  They got a new principal, several new teachers and other staff members.  The atmosphere is SO much better than in years past.  The district is more unified now that everyone is the mascot of a Tiger.  Each of the schools recites the Tiger Pledge each morning along with the Pledge of Allegiance.  I think it's awesome.  Here's the Tiger Pledge:

I will take responsibility for my actions and my learning.
I will inspire others to do their best by leading through example.
I will get assistance when I, or someone else may need help.
I will expect respect from others.
I will respond with respect for all.

(You should hear Graham say, I will expect respect from others... it is the cutest thing ever!)

Now that's the kind of pledge that I would strongly encourage my kids to site each morning. Here they are supposed to recite the pledge of allegiance to the state of Texas after the normal pledge of allegiance. Will not be teaching our kids that one!
