perks.

The other day Lincoln stayed home from school because his tummy hurt.  About halfway through the morning he turned to me and said, "Is it always this quiet when we're at school?"  Yes, yes it is.  And then the kids come home and the house explodes.  I love the explosion.  Call me crazy, but I do.  Sure it's annoying to pick up backpacks, coats, hats, gloves and anything else that has been strewn across the floor... but I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.  I love that our home is filled with children.  I hope to add at least one more in the coming years.

One of the perks of having our children so close in age is that they all play so well together.  Many a morning I wake up to the sounds of them playing 'family' together in their bedrooms.  It makes my heart smile.  The other night after dinner I came into the living room and found this on the floor.  All of them sitting together rolling this little napkin ring across the floor to each other.  They thought it up all by themselves.  I had to snap a picture to capture the moment.  The sight of their little toes linked together makes me so happy.
Peter tries to get in on the playing action... but he mostly just gets into trouble.  Good thing he loves his daddy snuggle time even more than being a crazy ball of destruction.
The other day Jeremy was able to come home from work a little earlier than usual.  This is such a treat because I can count on one hand the times that has happened since he started endo.  As he sat around and played with each of the kids he looked at me and said, "You are SO lucky you get to be home with them all day everyday."  It was a simple reminder to me of just how lucky I really am.  Sometimes I forget.  Now, whenever I am struggling during the day I think about my sweet husband and remember how lucky I am to get to be home.

I try to think that why too when it gets tough- no other place I would rather be.
