Lots of people ask me how I manage to get five kids dressed and ready to go all by myself and still make it to church 10 minutes early each week. Here's my simple answer: I have great kids. Seriously. Sure, they have their moments... but we really have been blessed in the kid department.
We have a little routine on Sundays. They eat breakfast with Daddy before he leaves at around 7:30am. I usually wake up just as he's leaving for his church meetings and help each of the kids get dressed. By then it's around 9am. Peter goes down for his morning nap at that time. That's when I shower and get dressed myself. Usually after I get out of the shower I find a scene like this somewhere in the house... (this week it was the girls room.)
By 10am we're usually about ready to go. I have a little time to tidy up the house, get the church bags ready and get rolls rising for dinner, or something in the crockpot. We try to be out the door by no later than 10:30. Church starts at 11am and it's a 20 minute drive to Kirtland. So, that's my secret.
I have no idea how I'm going to do it in January when we move back to 9am church. Bleh.
