mothers day.
I had the perfect Mother's Day. I wouldn't change even a minute of it. I've told my husband and kids that I don't ever want store bought gifts on Mother's Day. To me it is a holiday that should be celebrated with homemade gifts and service to others. It was wonderful! The kids surprised me with breakfast in bed. Scrambled eggs, cinnamon toast, a pear and a juicebox.
They each made me a little card, even Jayne and Peter. I loved reading their little messages and looking at the beautiful pictures. My favorite line had to be on the card Graham made me at Pre-school... it said, "Happy Mother's Day to one special lady!" I don't know why... I just love it. Another favorite was the "Happy Muthr's Day!" on Gracie's card. I love my kids.
Grace has had a little gift wrapped for me for about a week. She tried SO hard to get me to open it early, but I wouldn't. I'm mean like that. She gave me a necklace she made, and a few of her toys. So thoughtful.
The Bishop gave me the gift of later meetings for Jeremy which made the morning run much smoother. All of the kids were dressed before he left, so I only had to get myself ready. It was heavenly.
So, I was showered with love in the form of listening ears, happy kids, a clean home, several of the girls little toys, priceless cards, extra time with my husband, and 15 seconds of joy when Jeremy was released from his calling in the Bishopric. I say 15 seconds because he was released from 2nd counselor and put in as 1st counselor. It was a great 15 seconds though.
We spent the evening with friends. We invited a new member family over as well as our best friends. It was fun to give the other mom's a break from dinner, and to get to know a new family in the ward. Jeremy made me promise that next year we will start a new tradition of Daddy grilling on Mother's Day. I like the sound of that!

Sounds like a wonderful day! I also got a homemade gift which really is better than something store bought! You are an inspiration to me as a mother, I know it sounds cliche, but it's so true.
