blessings.
Sweet baby Peter was blessed this past Sunday. He looked so handsome in his adorable little sweater outfit! I feel a little bad that he's the first baby that I didn't make a blessing outfit for... but this was just too cute and perfect for the cold winter we've been having.
He wore the little booties that my grandma Christensen made. Each one of our children has worn them when they were blessed. She passed away a few years ago. It was nice to reminisce about her as I put them on him. My mom made him a beautiful white quilt that we used for the day as well. It was nice to have a little piece of home there with us.
I can't get enough of his teeny tiny hands! He might be a big little guy for his age... but those hands are still so cute and tiny!
I was so worried when I pulled his sweater out the day before that it was going to be too small. He has grown so much since he was born... I was sure it wasn't going to fit. Luckily it fit him just perfectly!
The day turned out to be kind of hard. Having your husband in the Bishopric is hard work. I had hoped to get a nice, family picture with all of us on Peter's special day... but the kids had other plans (like running around the halls and onto the stand in the chapel instead of listening to me tell them that we are still the church and we have to be reverent). I forced them against their will to sit on the couch and take a picture once we got home. Jeremy was still tied up at the church or we would have taken a candid family picture at home...
They turned back into their sweet-selves and each gave Peter a loving kiss on the head. He was feeling the love... We'll have to dress him up again and take a few family pictures another day.
The blessing itself was wonderful. I wasn't able to focus like I wished I could have since I didn't ask anyone to sit with me this week (not the smartest thing I've ever done). I do remember that he was blessed with faith, hope, a love for his mother, and an insatiable desire to serve a mission.
I am so fortunate to have such a sweet, even tempered, healthy little boy. He is a little piece of heaven and I am enjoying every minute I get with him. Heavenly Father sure knows how to pick the right little spirits for me! What a blessing.
